Debbi Watson’s Orange County Premier GU-14 team concluded their season in the Silver Central bracket with a lopsided 4-0 victory over Tustin United on Sunday at Grijalva Park.
The win not only gave OCP confidence for the off-season, it also secured them a third place finish in their bracket.
Watson’s team persevered through injuries over the season that at times forced the squad to play without many of its members. Injuries were some of the obstacles the team had to tackle during the season.
Not only did the girls battle injuries and illness, but also the devastating news that Watson’s eight-year-old daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
”This experience was remarkably unifying but also created some heavy hearts that were a challenge to play through,” OCP Assistant Coach Jim Watson said.
The season for the OCP (5-5-4) is over but they will continue to train three times a week and will compete in winter tournaments. Watson will strengthen her roster in March with some of the girls that play at the high school level and look to be a force to reckon with in the spring. |
