Canyon PSA teams led by Brian Warman, Steve Harder and Giovanni Perez have shown determination and dedication enough to mentally compete in the game of soccer. These teams are all poised to move up the ladder of their respective leagues and finish the season on a high:
GU-9 Blue League Record – 8-2-3 Coach: Brian Warman
Coach Warman’s squad had a 10-game unbeaten run this season and currently sits third in the Bronze Omega division. His girls have showed improvement all year and have vastly matured as soccer players. Although the squad is made up of only 10 players, these ladies have energy to burn just like all youngsters should. The offense has been working well for Coach Warman and have scored 45 goals so far. The team has fired in six goals in two respective matches, and also scored seven and eight in single games. The defense hasn’t been too shabby either, only allowing 13, for an average of one goal against per game. The team also earned five shutouts on the season.
The ladies showed their ability all season and even drew the team that will win the division, FC Blades, giving the 12-0-1 team their only blemish. These Canyon PSA girls have two games left on the schedule and play both this weekend. Coach Warman’s team can possibly move up to second place with a league win over Slammers FC this Saturday. Their other game is League Cup action on Sunday against the So Cal Blues.
BU-11 League Record – 6-3-2 Coach: Steve Harder
Improvement has been obvious for these Canyon PSA boys who could not manage a win in their first three matches. Since those two early defeats and draw, Coach harder’s team has only lost one more game and won six. Those six wins came in a seven game unbeaten run that saw these boys climb to third in the standings of the Bronze gamma division. The boys have also showed they can play with the top dogs of the division with a 1-1-2 record against Legends FC Black and FC Man United Red, the teams currently above them in the standings.
The offense has scored 22 in their 11 games including a 4-0 and 6-0 thumping of the Corona Eagles B98 team. The defense has been shrewd, only giving up an average of one goal a game with five shutouts. Coach Harder has clearly whipped these boys into shape judging by their emphatic turnaround from the beginning of the season to now. This Canyon PSA team plays their last game of the season on Saturday against Juventus FC White.
BU-13 League Record – 6-6-1 Coach: Giovanni Perez Asst. Coach: Luis Balboa
These boys have been on a bit of a roller coaster this season in the Silver South division. Their campaign started off rough with only one win in their first five matches. But Coach Perez kept his players on course and they are now poised to possibly move up to third position with a victory in their last remaining league match. The Canyon PSA team has scored 19 and given up 23 in their thirteen games.
Determination and hard work has brought them up the table in recent weeks which included a three game winning streak. Coach Perez’ team has three matches this weekend to close out their season. Their Saturday league opponent is the X-treme Black, while they face FC Barcelona Blue and Santa Barbara SC White respectively in the League Cup on Sunday.
